Eucalyptus Grandis

Eucalyptus Grandis is a fast-growing, sustainable hardwood that offers an ecological alternative to tropical hardwoods. Versatile and strong, this beautiful hardwood is 100% pure FSC-certified and can be used for a full range of interior and exterior applications. Exceptional characteristics include uniform color, texture, weight and machinability. Available consistently, year-round from a family-owned forestry supplier, Eucalyptus Grandis offers a real alternative to mahogany and other tropical hardwoods that have serious social and environmental liabilities.

The Eucalyptus Grandis offered by Northland Forest Products is plantation-grown in the north of Uruguay by Urufor. Urufor is a family-owned forestry operation with a long-term commitment to the land and sustainable harvesting. Urufor has been FSC-certified since 2001, with the goal of creating a stable market for well-managed Eucalyptus Grandis lumber.

The importance of FSC certification of the Urufor Eucalyptus Grandis plantations cannot be overstated. This is a distinction that plantations of other species have not achieved and guarantees that strict social and environmental standards have been met. On the contrary, illegal timber trafficking, severe environmental degradation, and land conversion that harms local native populations is often the direct result of the production of mahogany and other tropical hardwoods.

Eucalyptus Grandis offers a true alternative and qualifies for 100% valuation under the LEED "certified wood credit" (MRc7).
